Your Soul Number, Your Year Number, and Tarot

what's your soul number
Do you know your soul number and year number?

“Is he sleeping through the night?” you ask your friend about her 6 week old baby boy. “Not yet,” she replies. “You got time,” is your response.

How did you know that? How did you know that it wasn’t quite “time” for the baby to be sleeping through the night? Because he’s only 6 weeks old, and it could take 6 months or more before he does.

To everything there is a season. There is a season of babies crying in the middle of the night and a season of babies sleeping through the night. There are seasons of change, and then seasons of stillness. Our lives are a series of seasons: baby, teen, middle age, old age.

Western astrology is the science of cycles and seasons. Astrology is also quite complex. A much easier way to get a overview of the cycles and seasons of your life is through numerology. And numerology blends quite nicely with Tarot.

The Soul Number and the Year Number

There are a whole host of numerological calculations one can do. For our purposes, we will do two: the soul number and the year number.

To calculate your soul number: add the month, day, and year of your birth as single digits straight across. For example, if your birthday is January 5, 1987, add 1+5+1+9+8+7.

Vision Board for 2013

vision board 3 medHere’s my vision board for 2013.

My Tarot card for this year is Temperance 14.  In some decks Temperance is depicted as Art.  And a year of art it will be!

This year I am creating my own deck of Tarot cards which will be available with a creative commons license.

That means the cards will be available for free download, free printing, and free added use by you.

I recently came to a realization that I need to return to a life of art.  Back in the late 80’s, that was my life.  I was surrounded by artists.  I was an artist.  Art was the verb.

In 2013, I return to art via temperance.

Music

I want to experience much more live music, which is an art form.  And so I included it on my vision board.

In Sync

In sync.  I tend to be a little off on my timing.  This year my intention is to be in sync.

Connected

My intentions here are to be highly connected to Divine Inspiration and my Higher Self.  And with Neptune in Pisces and Uranus conjunct my North Node, that’s not a bad intention.  I intend to receive Divine downloads and run with it.

Powerful

I had a slightly different pose in mind, but I couldn’t take a picture of myself doing it.  This works though.  Powerful in my own life.

At Ease

I intend that everything will come as it needs to.  I don’t need to push, hurry, worry, or freak out.

Fruitful

I intend that 2013 is a year of great fruition.  All the hard work will pay off.  Seeds planted long ago bear fruit.

What’s on your vision board this year?

Lucky 13 – the tarot card spread 2013

What’s behind the Tarot Card Spread 2013?  The number 13.  The Death Card.  So right off we know that 2013 will be a year for letting go of what has outlived it’s purpose and to embrace transformation.

Astrology tells us that 2013 will be a year for letting go with Saturn in Scorpio all year long!  Scorpio is the sign of transformation, death and rebirth, and shadow work.  Saturn is the task master, forcing us to do the work so we can reap the rewards.  So we are being asked to do the deep work necessary for transformation.

Thirteen is often considered an unlucky number.  Many buildings will skip 13 when numbering the floors.   But then again, some people embrace the supposed bad luck of 13 and say lucky 13.

For 2013, it will pay off to be agile, like a cat.  It won’t be all endings and darkness.  There will be times for lazing in the sun and for charming encounters.  2013 reduces to the number 6, the Lovers!

2013 will also likely be a creative year, as 6’s can indicate creativity.  Also the 6 cards deal with give and take, giving and receiving.

Tarot Card Suits

The four suits of the Tarot

No discussion of Tarot would be complete without addressing Tarot card suits.  The four suits are:  earth, air, fire, and water.  I’m not a Tarot scholar, so I don’t know where the Tarot card suits originate from.

The Tarot card elements are the same elements used in astrology.  I am assuming they originate from the ancient Greeks, but I don’t know.

Nevertheless, a good working knowledge of the suits or elements is necessary to understanding Tarot.

Tarot spreads – the coffee reading

I like fun Tarot spreads.  Here’s one I put together on the fly, called the coffee reading.  Lay out one card for each letter and read accordingly.  I personally like to have a question to work with for any reading, but I think this could work as general spread as well.

You can download the spread here, or right click the image and save.
