Time for the Tarot Tip of the Week. Tips you can use to learn Tarot today! Today let’s talk about opening a reading.
The same advice is given for learning a foreign language, and Tarot is a symbolic language, right?
Sure you may feel awkward and overwhelmingly WRONG, but say it anyway.
What follows are several methods for just talking:
- Point at a card and say, “When I see this card it reminds me of…” “This card is about waiting for the fruits of your labor …” “My favorite part of this card is…”
- Ask a question, “What feels like a big risk to you?” “Why do you feel unable to move forward?” “Where in your life are you making a transition?”
- I see the number 3 several times in these cards. The number 3 is about…
- These 2 cards are about opposite things, blank and blank…
- Ask the querent a question, “Which card jumps out at you and why?”
What often holds us back as readers is the false belief that we are supposed to know everything right from the get go.
What I believe we as readers are supposed to know is symbolic language and how to help people observe themselves and their lives from a different perspective.
Now realize I am biased in that I use questions in my readings. I do not use an oracular style where I talk, talk, talk and do not ask for feedback. Nevertheless, you can see how the tips above can be used to weave a narrative for the person you are working with.
What are your thoughts and processes around opening a reading?
