“Is he sleeping through the night?” you ask your friend about her 6 week old baby boy. “Not yet,” she replies. “You got time,” is your response.
How did you know that? How did you know that it wasn’t quite “time” for the baby to be sleeping through the night? Because he’s only 6 weeks old, and it could take 6 months or more before he does.
To everything there is a season. There is a season of babies crying in the middle of the night and a season of babies sleeping through the night. There are seasons of change, and then seasons of stillness. Our lives are a series of seasons: baby, teen, middle age, old age.
Western astrology is the science of cycles and seasons. Astrology is also quite complex. A much easier way to get a overview of the cycles and seasons of your life is through numerology. And numerology blends quite nicely with Tarot.
The Soul Number and the Year Number
There are a whole host of numerological calculations one can do. For our purposes, we will do two: the soul number and the year number.
To calculate your soul number: add the month, day, and year of your birth as single digits straight across. For example, if your birthday is January 5, 1987, add 1+5+1+9+8+7.
If we use the above example, we get 31. Using Tarot and numerology together, we need to reduce to a number between 1 and 22. So using the example, 3+1 = 4. This example is a Soul Number 4.
To calculate your year number: add the month and day of your birth plus the current year as single digits straight across. For example, if your birthday is January 5, and the year is 2013, add 1+5+2+0+1+3.
In the above example, we get 12. The year number for the example is 12. If the number was greater than 21, then we would need to add across to reduce it.
The Soul Card and The Year Card
Final step. This one is the easiest, I promise! Take your soul number and pull the corresponding major arcana card. Take your year number and pull the corresponding major arcana card. That’s it!
Your soul card describes the focus and lessons for you this lifetime. Your year card describes the focus and lessons for the current year. It’s that simple.
